World premiere at the Frankfurt Motor Show, which opens its doors today with the first day reserved for the press, Ford introduced the Focus ST long awaited, sporty version which goes on sale in 2012 in over 40 countries. As we anticipated, the Blue Oval House has also produced a station wagon version, which will be reserved for the European market.
Characteristics. Change insignificant compared with the concept shown at previous shows, with the large front air intake, modified bumpers, side skirts, rear spoiler and dual tailpipes in the middle. The wheels are 18 inch alloy with 235/40 tires. Inside, the Recaro bucket seats to the next, we find the steering wheel, shifter and sport pedals. Depending on grade – it will have three – change the seats and add the system of automatic temperature control and xenon headlights. On request it is possible to have the Sports Pack, with circles blacks and red brake calipers.
Engines. As announced, the engine chosen by Ford for this version is the 2.0-liter turbo 4-cylinder 250-hp and 360 Nm of torque, mated to six-speed manual. Compared to the second generation, the U.S. House says a reduction in fuel consumption and emissions by 20%. The Focus ST is equipped with electric power steering system that is “tare” according to different driving conditions, lowered, stiffer suspension, Dynamic Traction Control and the understeer when cornering, in addition, the ESP can be programmed to three different levels intervention, with the possibility for those who want it, turn it off.
